What should the groom and groomsmen wear?

A 3-piece suit (jacket, vest, pants) is the classic choice for the groom. For a summer wedding choose cream, light blue or a linen suit; for a fall, winter or countryside wedding choose tweed or herringbone in tan, brown or green. Groomsmen usually wear the same suit in a different color, or the same suit with a different vest or tie. For a black-tie wedding, choose a tuxedo.

What should a man wear to a wedding as a guest?

A 3-piece or 2-piece suit in navy, gray, blue, burgundy or tweed is a safe choice. Avoid white, ivory and cream unless the couple asks for it, so you don't compete with the groom. For summer and beach weddings, a linen suit keeps you cool; for fall and winter weddings, tweed and herringbone look right and keep you warm.
